19th Annual Northwestel Festival of Trees raising funds for Whitehorse General’s new mental health unit

The Yukon Hospital Foundation and Northwestel are announcing the return of the 19th annual Festival of Trees. This year’s fundraiser and festivities are held in support of the creation of Whitehorse General Hospital’s new mental health unit.

See the trees and join your community at one of Whitehorse’s most cherished holiday traditions from November 24 to December 3, 2022, at the Sternwheeler Hotel. Proceeds from this year’s exciting events are supporting the creation of a $1.5M 12-bed mental health unit at Whitehorse General Hospital. As a proud supporter of the Yukon Hospital Foundation, Northwestel is donating $90,000 towards the facility set to open in 2024. This expansion reflects a more modern approach to care and includes many more private rooms, creating a better overall patient experience throughout the healing process.

“We are excited to welcome back the community to our Festival of Trees this November. Although moving to virtual events for the past two was the right decision, and we saw our community members step up and continue to support us, we know that it was not the same as celebrating the holidays together in person. We are ready to come back safely and be better than ever.” – Karen Forward; President, Yukon Hospital Foundation.

“The Northwestel Festival of Trees is a chance for us to come together and celebrate the season, while, together as a community making our hospitals and territory even better. Increasing access to mental health resources benefits everyone. Northwestel has provided over $2 million in support for its hometown hospitals in the Yukon since the inception of the Yukon Hospital Foundation almost 20 years ago. We’re proud to celebrate together with the YHF in support of improving the quality of all our lives. Curtis Shaw; President, Northwestel
